ReQuotes: Pied Piper ~Episode One

Due to an unfortunate lack of time, this is a one-time ReQuote. Pied Piper so far, however, is just too good not to share at least the first episode. :)

"To the man who got rid of the raging rat infestation, the lord of the castle in Hamelin and the other officials, rather than granting the promised reward, punished him instead. So the man who was kicked out of the castle played his pipe again. All the village children who heard the music were enchanted by it and started to follow it."
*picture book ignites, and the sound of whistling takes the place of a child's voice*

Joo Seong-chan: "I'm going out to war. The least you can do is give me enough ammunition, Chairman."
...
Chairman: "You said it yourself: if you can't negotiate a deal, then even if God came, He wouldn't be able to either. It's up to you how many people you rescue with that money. Just try to give the impression that the company did all it could."

Joo Seong-chan: A negotiation starts with getting a good grasp of exactly what I and the opposing party want. It's easiest to face an opponent who doesn't know what he really wants. Some opponents want you to show emotions like good will or friendship or trust. But actually, you can give that anytime, because that is free. The problem is that, in most situations, both sides getting what they want almost never happens. Win-win is a lie that was made up by idealists. Then the way to do it is to make the opponent accept my proposal, whether he wants it or not. To make him believe on his own that he wants it. Or to make him want something that he didn't want. That is the nature of my negotiations.

Joo Seong-chan: "If there's anything else that you need, I can do it for you. I'm a man of my word."
terrorists: "Kill him!" "Kill him!"
Joo Seong-chan: "Yes, you may. Then why do you hold the trigger? Do you know why? It's because you're a businessman. If you kill me and take the money, the deal ends here. But think about it. Next time you kidnap someone, you're going to be notorious for killing the negotiator and taking the money. Then who's going to make a deal with you? Right?"

Team Leader Oh: "Let's live. Let's live and get through and bear this wretched world together.  When cooking rice in a rice cooker, there are times when it tastes good and times when it doesn't. You might get really angry and feel wronged and enraged and start to boil inside. This is the point at which the wretched clogged rice cooker is about to explode. Like this here." *points to slide show of the lesson on negotiation* "Letting the air out of this rice cooker, that is our job."

Team Leader Oh: "To be honest, I didn't want you to veer from the wide and straight road to the narrow and crooked one."
Yeo Myeong-ha: "I'll decide which path I'll take. And to me, the path that Team Leader Oh is walking seems the coolest."

reporter: "It is known that the ransom sum was purported to be quite big. How much did you actually give in exchange for the hostages?"
Joo Seong-chan: "When a child cries and throws a tantrum, do you know what happens if you buy them everything they want? They continue having bad behavior."
reporter: "Are you saying that you didn't pay the ransom for all five of them, right?"
Joo Seong-chan: "If you give them everything they ask for, the culprits will target many more potential hostages. Why? Because that would be easy business. But what I did was change that to tough business."
reporter: "One person's life could have been sacrificed-"
Joo Seong-chan: "That's right. That one person could have been me. But I went to rescue. Although one person was sacrificed, I rescued the four surviving people. Why couldn't I bring Jeong Chan-ho back? It's because I'm not a god."
reporter: "Did you collect his body?"
Joo Seong-chan: "What I know is that due to fear of an outbreak, the hostage takers buried the body. For the fact that I wasn't able to rescue the person before, and the fact that I wasn't able to recover the remains, I apologize to his bereaved family, to K Group, and to our citizens. Rest in peace."
reporter: "Is that apology sincere?"

Joo Seong-chan: "You taught me this, Chairman. Do not even offer flattery for free."

Joo-eun: "How can someone know and do everything that I want? That was comfortable and nice."
Joo Seong-chan: "There's a mood to today's weather isn't there? Let's take our time to talk about it on a drive later."
Joo-eun: "But why is it that I don't really know what kind of person Joo Seong-chan is? I know what you're afraid of. But don't be."
Joo Seong-chan: "What are you talking about? What am I afraid of?"
Joo-eun: "In your world, everything is give and take, and there is no relationship that isn't that way. That way you won't be shaken by anyone and you can objectively negotiate then. Because you have to be able to turn your back whenever you need to. But even though I can't give you anything, or even though I can't prove anything, someone who trusts you, someone who is willing to risk their life for you, don't you need at least one person like that?"

Team Leader Oh: "Yeah, let's see some of your expensive high-tech toys."
Team Leader Han: "If possible, please return the equipment without a scratch."

Joo Seong-chan: "Let's change the rule. One person every ten minutes. I'll choose a person to live. Send the child out first."
Hostage-surviver-turned-hostage-taker: "As expected, you're very good at negotiating. You should have used that skill for our situation."

Joo Seong-chan: "He's doing that because he's frustrated his brother died during the negotiation. His target is me."
Team Leader Han: "If it's because of his resentment towards you, then the chance he'll spring the bomb in front of you vs doing so without your presence, which is bigger? Since you're an expert, you should know that much."
Joo Seong-chan: "Life or death, I said that I would go! My girlfriend is in there, too!"
Team Leader Han: "That's even more reason you can't do it. Several lives, including your girlfriend's, are at stake. No matter how skilled a cardiothoracic surgeon you are, you can't perform heart surgery on your own family."

telephone voice: "One victim. Could you say the same thing if that one person was someone you love?"
Joo Seong-chan: "Then should i have let the remaining four die? You tell me what I should have done!"
telephone voice: "Fine, you're saying to the very end that you made the right decision. Thanks to that, your woman remains behind alone getting ready to die."
Joo Seong-chan: "Put her on. Let me say a few words."
telephone voice: "Don't try to pull a fast one. I know all about the SWAT team making their move. There are TV cameras around, right?"
Joo Seong-chan: "Joo-eun hasn't done anything wrong. Please. Please!"
telephone voice: "Whether the remaining hostage will end up a survivor or a victim depends on your choice."

Joo Seong-chan, kneeling before a camera: "I'm not a hero. Rather, I'm a con artist and a scammer who cheats. Out of the $5 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers for five people, K Group from the very beginning supplied only $1 million, the price of just one person's life. Chairman Seo Geon-il said it didn't matter how many I rescued with that money. He said that all I had to do was to plant the image that the company had done all they could. The maximum number of people I judged I could save with that money was four. But the premise was that the kidnappers, angered by the small amount of ransom money, would kill one of the hostages. That was the negotiating strategy I set up before entering the criminal's base However, even if I were to go back to that scene, there could not be a better outcome than that. If there was one thing I missed, it's that rather than the terrorist, I should have first persuaded the company...no, the Chairman, that your employees are not numbers, but living persons. Each and every one was a person with family anxiously waiting for them."
...
telephone voice: "You still don't know what you did wrong."
Joo Seong-chan: "You...Who are you?!"

telephone: *eerie whistling*

ReQuotes: Descendants of the Sun ~ Episode Ten

The Empress and I were killed by this episode as it took us from hysterical laughter... to hyperventilating with excitement... to screaming in anguish and anticipation.  By far the funniest part was when we see the bro pair who have faced life and death situations side by side with equanimity freaking out completely when a former date sends them a care package and their girlfriends open it.

Mo-yeon: Hold tight.
Argus: It hurts so much.  Are you giving me any painkillers?
Mo-yeon: Oh, I forgot.  Guess that makes me a bad doctor.

Fatima: Why did you save him? You should have just let him die.
Mo-yeon: You could have been a murderer if I had just let him die.  I saved you from that.
Fatima: You stopped me from becoming a murderer?  But you can’t stop me from being killed.
Mo-yeon: There is an army out there.  So you will never be killed.
Fatima: Army.  You want me to trust soldiers. Have you experienced a war?  Have you seen a soldier in a war?  I didn’t think so.  So get out of my way, because I'm leaving.

Myung-joo: Wow, the weather is so nice.  And the man sitting next to me is even nicer.
Dae-young: What’s so nice about a civilian operation with a haggard soldier?
Myung-joo: I have high standards for men.
Dae-young: Are you sure about that?
Myung-joo: Don’t you look in the mirror every morning?  If you don’t, why don’t you show that face to me every morning instead?  I want to see your handsome face.

Mo-yeon: I can do that myself.
Shi-jin: Love compels us to do things for others that they can do themselves.

Mo-yeon: Sergeant Major Seo, you got a package from a Shin Ji-young.
Myung-joo: I need to inspect this.  ‘Be strong’ with a red heart?  ‘I miss you’ with another heart?  And giggling sounds?
Mo-yeon: Does Sergeant Major Seo have a sister?
Myung-joo: He’s an only child!
Mo-yeon: That’s not my fault.  Wait, are you allowed to do that?
Myung-joo: Look at this photo.
Mo-yeon: What’s that?  What’s Shi-jin doing there?  How dare they.  Lieutenant Yoon, get your gun.

Shi-jin: It’s a misunderstanding.  You got it wrong.
Myung-joo: A misunderstanding?  I have a photo of the four of you looking very sweet.
Mo-yeon: I got to see your brightest smile through this photo.
Shi-jin: I wasn’t smiling.  It looks like I was, but I wasn’t.  Right, Dae-young?
Dae-young: She’s my cousin.  You know my cousin is a flight attendant.
Shi-jin: Exactly.
Mo-yeon: So, a cousin sent you a parcel, but you both come running?
Myung-joo: Because they both had fun.  Which one is the cousin?
Dae-young and Shi-jin: What?
Myung-joo: Answer at the same time.  Is it the girl on the left or on the right?  In one, two, three.
Dae-young: Left.
Shi-jin: Right.
Shi-jin: Left.
Dae-young: Right.
Dae-young: I set Captain Yoo up with a date.  It was nothing more and nothing less.
Shi-jin: Are you betraying me?
Dae-young: I am.
Mo-yeon: You must have stayed in touch with her until now for her to have this address.
Shi-jin: Is this true, Dae-young?  What were you thinking?  I don’t get it.  I told him off for you, girls.  Didn’t I do well?
Mo-yeon: Forget it.  Come with me.
Dae-young: Sure, let’s go.
Myung-joo: Stop right there.
Dae-young: I thought she was talking to me.  I’m used to hearing that, you see.  Shi-jin, you should go.
Shi-jin: I want to stay here.

Mo-yon: Doctor Pyo!
Pyo Ji-soo: I know you got what I sent you.  You should at least call to thank me.
Mo-yeon: Sorry.  I was so busy, I haven’t even opened it yet.
Ji-soo: What are you busy with?  Dating?  I heard you kissed the captain.
Mo-yeon: How do you know that?
Ji-soo: How do you think?  People told me.  And you fought today, right?
Mo-yeon: How did you know that?
Ji-soo: I guessed, you brat.  I guess this relationship is actually going somewhere.
Mo-yeon: Hush.

Mo-yeon: More guns?  What’s with this place and guns?
Shi-jin: It’s because you ran in without a plan.
Mo-yeon: Fatima might have gotten beaten up if I didn’t step in.
Shi-jin: Yes, well done.  You saved her, but you might get us shot.

Black Market Boy: Shut up and drop your weapon.
Shi-jin: Okay.  I'll put it down.  Right here?  Will this spot work?  I can’t use this gun anyway.    If I do, I have to type up a million reports.  Which is why... I need to borrow yours.

Mo-yeon: That was exhilarating.  Is anyone following us?  We did it.  I still feel the excitement.  Is this why you’re a soldier?  I got the bad guys!
Shi-jin: Do you know you almost got me, too?
Mo-yeon: I thought you’d get out of the way.  I had it all worked out.
Shi-jin: How did she study medicine with a brain like that?

Dae-young: You really don’t listen to me, do you?  I clearly told you to wait in the safe zone since it’s dangerous.
Myung-joo: The safe zone is boring.

Shi-jin: Are you really going to support Fatima’s tuition?
Mo-yeon: Why?
Shi-jin: Doctors must be well-paid.  Lending a hand to another means that you have more responsibility to shoulder.
Mo-yeon: I’m just dong what I can when I can do it.  Even if it means problems.  Do you remember who said this?
Shi-jin: You can’t take responsibility for everyone you meet here.  It doesn’t change the world.
Mo-yeon: I won’t be able to change the world.  But Fatima’s life will change.  And that would mean the world to Fatima.  Then that’s enough.
Shi-jin: I thought you said you weren’t that kind of doctor.
Mo-yeon: I thought you said I was that kind of doctor.

Shi-jin: I sense something bad.  Usually in cases like this, an unknown corpse gets turned into the police.  I feel like this is the beginning of a very long report.
Dae-young: I feel like I will be the one writing that long report.

Shi-jin: I need to know how much you are worth to Argus for me to see if you are worth protecting.
Young-soo: My goodness.  I feel ill.  Get me a doctor.
Mo-yeon: I am here.  And I think I have what you are looking for.  I think you are past the age to be eating rocks.

Dae-young: Yoon Myung-joo!
Myung-joo: That’s a relief.  You ran here faster than when you got the package from that stewardess.
Dae-young: Are you okay?!
Myung-joo: Wow, did I just scare Seo Dae-young?
Shi-jin: What do I need to do?  What can I do for you?  Tell me anything you need.
Mo-yeon: I want an answer.   Who wrote ‘the day I met Shi-jin’ with a heart?  Was it the one on the right or the one on the left?
Shi-jin: The one on the left.  She was very cute.
Mo-yeon: Oh, I see.  I guess she was cute.  And this man will answer anything I ask just like that.
Shi-jin: I didn’t think it was the time to joke around.
Myung-joo: It’s as if we are already dead.    They’re taking everything we say as our will.  You both need to lighten up.  We won’t die.

Remember - Son's War / 리멤버 – 아들의 전쟁 / Rimembeo – Adeul-ui Jeonjaeng

Plot:
A man with Alzheimer's is accused of murder, and his hyperthymesic son becomes a lawyer to get him off death row.

Main Characters:
Seo Jin-woo {Yoo Seung-ho} - Jin-woo is raised by his father after a tragic car accident killed the rest of their family. He becomes a lawyer to clear his father's name, and engages in a seemingly impossible battle with the endlessly wealthy and powerful Nam family. When finally equipped to take down their empire of evil, he finds that the perfect memory that he has both hated and relied upon is being attacked by the same disease that has already caused his father to forget he ever had a son. Can he save his father before he forgets what he is fighting for?

Park Dong-ho {Park Sung-woong} - Dong-ho is a gangster-raised lawyer who is seemingly connected to Jin-woo by a thousand threads of fate. The first case he ever lost ends up being one he will forever regret, and the effect on both his sass and his suits was painfully obvious.
He is a fascinating character, and I enjoyed his scenes all the way through, even when I was furious at him for bowing to the Nams, no matter his reasoning. He did the unforgivable, and it is a tribute to both Park Sung-woong and Yoo Seung-ho that I continued to adore his relationship with Jin-woo, despite what happened.
Also, while I do not know how accurate his satoori accent for this drama was, I could listen to him talk all day long. :D

Dong-ho is so done with certain people...

Lee In-ah {Park Min-young} - In-Ah is a young law student who meets Jin-woo on a bus and accuses him of stealing from her. They live near each other, and eventually become very close friends. The trial of Jin-woo's father ends up changing the course of her life multiple times, and her skills are a lovely support to Jin-woo, despite being underutilized by the drama.

Nam Gyu-man {Namgung Min} - Gyu-man is a psychotic chaebol who sees people as mere pawns to be used or abused at his pleasure. He could so easily have been a ridiculous character with utterly unbelievable temper tantrums, but Namgung Min played him to creepy perfection, with just enough vulnerability that there were times I actually felt sorry for him, even as I despised the ground he walked on.

Ahn Soo-bum {Lee Si-eon} - Soo-bum is Gyu-man's way-too-long-suffering secretary, and obviously a key secret-keeper in this story. I did really wonder about his childhood, because the kind of abuse he took from Gyu-man while continuing to call their relationship a 'friendship' was all kinds of problematic.
permanently ashamed of his boss/friend...

Kang Suk-gyu {Kim Jin-woo} - Jin-woo is a judge and friend of Gyu-man. {Clearly competing interests.} Another extremely intriguing character, and one who I'm counting as a main character just because of how much I loved the sheer righteousness he could infuse into a conversation.

Cautionary Notes:
Issues include murder, obviously {it was supposed to be traumatizing, and it succeeded}, multiple rapes, both implied and discussed {the number of rape cases in court got to be a little overwhelming}, a character with intermittant explosive disorder and a massively sadistic streak, and suicide, both threatened and completed.

Not so much cautions as simply things I disliked, while I could see what the goal was for the relationship between In-ha and her mother, I mostly ended up just disliking her mother - it was not well done. Most of the female characters, including In-ha and Gyu-man's sister, were criminally underused. But this was a drama about fathers and sons, not about mothers and daughters or brothers and sisters, so it made sense.

Favorite Scene:
Two of my favorites were...

the pure hope that entered his eyes when Dong-ho showed up...

and
the obvious mirroring of the previous scene made it extra awesome

The others are probably too spoiler-y. :)

Least Favorite Scene:
I disliked a scene where Jin-woo was egged just because the aesthetics were displeasing...but the scenes I particularly did not like were those were the villain was being particularly horrendous. Sometimes it seemed too over the top, and the scenes where he beat his secretary or ordered an underling to pick up broken glass with his mouth, or hunted down the girl he murdered were just plain disturbing.
{A scene where he was beaten by his father not only explained a lot, but had a lot of nasty implications for how he had grown up.}

Random Quotes:

“What remains in life is not money or honor – it is memories.”
~ Seo Jae Hyuk

“Law and judgement are like the facts & the truth. And the truth can win over the facts”
~ Lee In Ah

“It not the one who has everything but the one who has nothing to lose who wins.”
~ Park Dong Ho

Numerous exchanges like this...
that face....
Interestingly, I have never seen so many Bible verses onscreen outside of a Kendrick Brothers' or Billy Graham movie. There was no pastor or church involved, but the main characters were very familiar with the Bible, and one character 'gets religion,' as another character terms it. That religion seemed pretty works-based with a need for atoning for one's sins, but then the character directly quoted  a verse about believing on Jesus Christ for salvation {to the main villain, which was kind of awesome}.

Overall:
This...is truly one of the strangest dramas I've ever seen. I'll be perfectly honest and say I started watching it for Yoo Seung Ho - I was blown away by his acting as a teen, and was very curious to see how his acting would be now that he's grown up and back from the army. And, for about the first 10 episodes, I continued watching it because of him {i.e. if someone else had been playing the lead, I might have gotten bored and distracted by a different drama}. The episodes did not drag when I was watching them, but nothing seemed to happen - Yoo Seung Ho's character ugly-cried every few minutes and things went from bad to worse and everyone was miserable.

Seriously, everyone was miserable:

Then came episode 11, and I told The Ambassador, "Forget whatever else I said about Remember: Son's War. Episode 11 is the awakening. All prior was necessary to set up for this. Three minutes in...Yoo Seung Ho has been unleashed. This is why he's so much better as a grey hero. He's terrifying." :D
the smirk in the reflection...

The drama is gorgeously shot and breathtakingly acted. It is most definitely an actor's drama...the story itself was definitely different enough to be fascinating, but there were hints of story threads there surfaced in single episodes and were never followed up on, ideas that were later ignored, and points where I was sure I'd missed part of it because I could not figure out how the storyline had gone from point A to point B. But strange as the story-world was, the actors absolutely sold it and are the biggest reason to watch it.

Despite Jin-woo's dance with the dark side, overall the drama had a gorgeous message of forgiveness. Strong themes of truth, justice, and doing what is right regardless of feelings made it very unlike any modern American television I've seen in recent years. The characters were all intriguing in their own ways, and the drama's biggest fault was probably failing to fully explore all the possible nuances it hinted at. Like in Angry Mom, romance took a back seat. There was romance, but it was a quiet, slow-growing thing that eventually simply seemed to be, rather than happen at any moment that could be pointed out.

This is a story about sons, fighting for or against or because of their fathers, a story about good fathers and terrible ones, about substitute fathers and father figures and who sons turn to in their hour of need. It was kind of incredible to watch the father-son relationship explored through the villain and his father, through the hero and his father, and through the grey one in between them and his relationship with both his father and his father figure. My favorite relationship, though, was Dong-ho acting as father to Jin-woo.

Verdict: 3/5
This isn't a typical kdrama, and it's probably not the one I'd recommend starting with if one is curious about Yoo Seung Ho as an actor, even though the writer actually wrote it with him in mind. But it is definitely an intriguing drama, and one well worth watching, especially if you're curious about what a faith-based legal thriller from Korea looks like.

ReQuotes: Descendants of the Sun ~ Episode Nine

This drama not only keeps raising the bar, but then jumping over that bar.

Mo-yeon: Are you using your Special Forces training on a matter like this?  For completely personal reasons?
Shi-jin: Well, someone was publicly broadcasting her feelings.
Mo-yeon: There needs to be a doctor that broadcasts.  You said so yourself.  Why did you listen to someone else’s recording?
Shi-jin: I didn’t want to, but it was playing.
Mo-yeon: Just because it was playing, how could you just listen to it?
Shi-jin: You’re really cute.  But why are you running away?  When you were near to death, you wanted to confess your feelings.  But now that you’re alive, have you changed your mind?
Mo-yeon: Confess my feelings?  I wasn’t confessing my feelings.
Shi-jin: That voice was definitely yours.
Mo-yeon: It wasn’t me.
Shi-jin: This phone belongs to you.
Mo-yeon: This isn’t a phone.  Goodness, what am I saying?  Just keep quiet, Mo-yeon.
Shi-jin: It’s a honor to be in your will.
Mo-yeon: Look over there!
Shi-jin: I’m not fooled.  Stop dumping me.  Do you know how many times you’ve dumped me?  I have to hear from  you if it was a confession of your feelings or not.  So stop running away.
Mo-yeon: All right.  I’ll tell you.  So let go of me.

Ha Ja-ae: They say flowers bloom even during the war.  People have a fling even after an earthquake.
Song Sang-hyun: People are even confessing their feelings and kissing at this place.  Others are busy living their lives like that.  Shouldn’t we be diligent like them?  Kissing in between working?
Ja-ae: Don’t be so cheeky.
Sang-hyun: Even after experiencing such a disaster, haven’t you realized that we need to be cheeky while we can?
Ja-ae: Shut up!

Sang-hyun: To sum up, is it right that you confessed your love to Captain Yoo?
Ja-ae: It seems Captain Yoo confessed his love to her first.
Mo-yeon: You are well educated people.  Please talk about it behind my back.

Myung-joo: You are so bold.  How can you think of dating the Big Boss of Team Alpha?
Mo-yeon: Lieutenant Yoon, let me ask you a question.
Myung-joo: Go ahead.
Mo-yeon: Doesn’t it bother you that your boyfriend is a soldier?  Aren’t you afraid that he’ll die or get hurt?  As far as I know, Sergeant Major Seo’s job is as dangerous as Captain Yoo’s.
Myung-joo: To be accurate, he penetrates into enemy territory to reconnoiter guerilla wars, collect information, rescue hostages, destroy major facilities and induce the enemy’s surrender at the risk of his life.  But I’m not worried about his job.  I’m just afraid to be away from him.  So there’s nothing to worry about for me since we are together now.  Simply put, I have nothing to fear.  That’s how I feel.

Myung-joo: What are you doing here alone?
Shi-jin: I’m agonizing over something.  By the way, can I ask you a question?  Doesn’t it bother you that your boyfriend is a solider?
Myung-joo: Why are you all asking me that question?  You should go talk to her.  Mo-yeon just asked me the same question.
Shi-jin: What did you tell her?
Myung-joo: Go ask her  yourself.  This is not information warfare.  You should talk face-to-face.
Shi-jin: You're not the one to talk.
Myung-joo: It’s always hand-to-hand combat for me.  What is this rock for?  Who are you going to throw it at?
Shi-jin: I was thinking about that.

Dae-young: You two look very friendly.
Myung-joo: What are you saying?  Can’t I be friendly with another man?
Dae-young: Are you still upset with me?
Myung-joo: How can I not be upset?  It’s not like I asked for it three times a day after every meal.  How could you run away when I asked you for it?  Go do roll calls for the rest of your life.
Shi-jin: I see.  You asked him for that?  The thing between a man and a woman?  Is that it?
Myung-joo: It’s not that.  I just asked him to hold my hand and give me a hug.  That’s all I wanted.  But he’s like this all the time.  He never holds my hand.  He just holds my arm or shoulder.  He’s so stupid.
Myung-joo: Here.  It’s him.  Throw the rock at him.
Shi-jin: You are a fool.
Dae-young: Stop it.  I don’t know what I’m going to do if you keep doing that.
Shi-jin: What are you going to do?  Are you going to hold my shoulder, too?

Shi-jin: Why are you avoiding me?  You avoided me when I confessed.  And now you’re avoiding me after writing about me in your will.
Mo-yeon: It was not a will.
Shi-jin: You said your heart was fluttering the whole time.
Mo-yeon: That wasn’t me.
Shi-jin: I’m not asking you to tell me about your true feelings.  Don’t feel embarrassed just because I found out that you like me.  Even so, it doesn’t change that I like you more.
Shi-jin: By the way, you look pretty today.
Mo-yeon: Stop it.

Mo-yeon: What really happens if you step on a mine?
Shi-jin: There’s nothing you can do.  Unlike in the movies, if you step on it, it goes off.

Shi-jin: The only way to beat a minefield is to go slowly.  Try to relax and enjoy the sexy view.
Mo-yeon: This must be that time when a joke give you courage.
Shi-jin: The joke was me telling you to relax.  The rest is a fact.
Mo-yeon: You’re hopeless.

Shi-jin: What about us?  Will we part ways soon?  Is your name on the list of people returning to Korea?
Mo-yeon: No.
Shi-jin: No?
Mo-yeon: No.  I'm staying
Shi-jin: Why?  It can’t be because of me.
Mo-yeon: It is.  I’m staying because of you.    I want to spend more time with you.  I think I just confessed my feelings right now.  Shall I apologize?

Ja-ae: They will feel so embarrassed later.
Sang-hyun: They must have felt so happy a while ago.
Ja-ae: I want to break them up.
Sang-hyun: I want to beat them up.  What?
Ja-ae: I want to beat you up.

Young-soo: Hang on.  Did you just hit me?  Who are you to....
Dae-young: Do you want to be a patient?  How badly hurt do you want to be?  Do you want a fracture?  Do you want to be a lefty?  I can do that.  I can put a hole right here, too.  Tell me what you want.  I can put you in the ICU for the rest of your life.

Dae-young: Are you targeting to shoot her head?
Shi-jin: It's a shot of love.  My target is too pretty.
Dae-young: All is clear on the soldiers’ gun inspection.
Shi-jin: My gun is all right, too.
Dae-young: The gun seems fine, but the gunman doesn’t.

Shi-jin: In the afternoon, the commander of the Special Forces is scheduled to visit to encourage the corps.  Don’t sigh.  I, in command, won’t make a fuss just because the the commander is coming to make a visit.  As always, we will do a clean job of weeding near the storage on military training grounds.  And as usual, we will clean the washroom with toothpaste until it shines.    We will never make a fuss.  After repairing the sewer, we will clean the the storage.  Be natural, just like we normally are.  Understood?

Mo-yeon: Why are you out so soon?  I thought you had something serious to talk about.
Shi-jin: We did.  I was kicked out right after.
Mo-yeon: From the army?
Shi-jin: No.  From the commander’s favor.  I've been dismissed from the potential son-in-law list.
Mo-yeon: Then...
Shi-jin: Yes, the love triangle has ended.

General Yoon: How is it then?  Now that you’ve been reunited, do you still like him?
Myung-joo: Yes Sir.
General Yoon: What about you, Dae-young?  Do you still feel the same way?
Myung-joo: Ask me.  Why do you keep bringing him into this?
Dae-young: Yes Sir.
General Yoon: I thought we shared the same thoughts.  I thought you were going to back down in this fight for her.  Answer me, Dae-young.
Dae-young: My answer is....
Myung-joo: I don’t care what he says.  I won’t leave him.
Dae-young: I will hold on to this hand.
General Yoon: Do you think you’re capable of holding onto that hand?
Dae-young: If you transfer me, I will go as I always have.  However, I won’t let go of this hand.

Myung-joo: That is unbelievable.  Are you serious?
Dae-young: If you want out, tell me now.  You won’t have any more chances.
Myung-joo: Are you serious?  Is this for real?  Did he really give us his permission?
Dae-young: Yes Ma’am.  I, Seo Dae-young, have been commanded to date Yoon Myun-joo.  I report to you.  Salute.
Myung-joo: Why did this happen?  What’s going on?  What will I do?  Does my father have cancer?  Is he suffering from a terminal illness?  I should call him.  I can tell by his voice if he is telling the truth or not.

Argus: Hey doctor, do something.
Fatima: No don’t.  Just kill him.  Just let him die.
Argus: Doctor, what are you waiting for?  Do your job.
Fatima: Please let him die.  Please.
Argus: You took an oath!  Don't take away my chance to kill that girl!
Mo-yeon: I don’t think I’ll let him live.  I think I’ll just leave him.  If I let him live, that could kill more people.
Shi-jin: Let him live.  You do your job as a doctor.  If we have to kill someone, I will do my job.
