And so we come to the end of this journey under the sun. This finale had the Empress and I screaming to each other in louder tones than usual and finishing up with elated squealing and a headache that neither of us regretted for one instant.
Mo-yeon: That day, Lieutenant Yoon said it snowed for the first time in 100 years. And that he walked through the snow.
Dae-young: I’m sorry I took so long to reply. We’re not separating. I will never separate from you again.
Dae-young: I will never die again. Never again. I won’t die no matter what.
Myung-joo: I don’t believe you, but I want you to keep your word. It snowed for the first time in 100 years, and you returned alive, too. I’ve used up all my luck already. All we have remaining is your luck.
Dae-young: Okay.
Myung-joo: But how did you get here? What about Shi-jin?
Dae-young: As soon as I reported my survival, I heard about you. As soon as I left the allied base camp, I came here, and Captain Yoo went to Albania.
Myung-joo: What happened to you two? I heard you and Shi-jin were killed in action and that they couldn’t retrieve your bodies after the bombing.
Dae-young: The militia arrived before the bombing. And we were taken into a bomb shelter before the bombing. After that, we were locked into an unknown prison cell for about 150 to 155 days.
Shi-jin: I received the help of a friend who was from afar.
Mo-yeon: How could you break your bone again? I was planning on breaking it for you if you returned.
Shi-jin: I’m the one who should be sorry. It won’t happen again.
Mo-yeon: I have no choice but to trust you.
Shi-jin: I've been curious about something. What’s that?
Mo-yeon: It’s food for your memorial ceremony. Today is the first anniversary of your death. Must I really prepare my boyfriend’s rites?
Mo-yeon: Can you see that person?
Aid worker: Yes, he’s very handsome. Is he your boyfriend?
Mo-yeon: Thank goodness. I thought I was seeing things. Thank you. Goodnight.
Aid Worker: Goodnight.
Shi-jin: You just killed me twice. Did you think I was a ghost? You’re a doctor. You studied medicine.
Mo-yeon: Who told you to appear on your death anniversary?
Mo-yeon: Why did you video call me? This feels awkward.
Ji-soo: I can’t see you in the dark. Move somewhere brighter.
Mo-yeon: Okay. How is it now?
Chi-hoon: Am I seeing things?
Min-ji: I can see him, too.
Ji-soo: Are you okay? Can’t you see what is happening?
Mo-yeon: See what?
Ja-ae: Today is the first anniversary of Captain Yoo’s death.
Chi-hoon: Then that must be food for his rites?
Mo-yeon: You’re right. It is.
Chi-hoon: He’s there to eat the offerings.
Sang-hyun: Oh no. *faints*
Shi-jin: Wow, you just killed me three times. Is it funny?
Mo-yeon: Were you really going to pass up the chance for a joke this big? Aren’t they so cute? Aha, I think they got it now.
Chi-hoon: Mo-yeon. Listen carefully to what I say. Don’t ask me why, though.
Mo-yeon: What?
Chi-hoon: Tell him that you love him and that you've missed him. Say it out loud right now so that he can rest in peace.
Mo-yeon: What?
Chi-hoon: I know it’s hard to believe, but Captain Yoo is behind you right now. I hope that he rests in peace.
Mo-yeon: They’re hilarious. They want you to leave already.
Shi-jin: You can’t say that. That makes me upset.
All: No way! Oh my gosh!
Sang-hyun: *sits up* It can’t be.
Shi-jin: Hello everyone!
Mo-yeon: So this is what Shi-jin is currently up to. Can you imagine how happy I am? I’ll explain everything when I get back. Leave us alone for now. I’m hanging up. Bye.
Ja-ae: Was that actually him?
Chi-hoon: It was.
Sang-hyun: It wasn’t a ghost, right?
Chi-hoon: It was him.
Lt. Col. Park: Yoo and Seo will type up a report during work hours for now. The reports will be as thick as school textbooks.
Sergeants Choi, Im and Gong: Good luck. Goodbye.
Dae-young: What are you doing?
Shi-jin: A4 paper scares me more than C4 explosives. Look at the sharp edges. Paper cuts sting badly, you know.
Dae-young: The man who waterboarded us... didn’t he have a Spetsnaz tattoo on his wrist?
Shi-jin: That’s the one who cut us. It’ll look bad if we say we only got beaten up. Say we fought back once a week and tried to escape once a month. Make it sound real.
Dae-young: Let’s make it twice a month. Will they write to the militia asking for confirmation?
Shi-jin: At this point, I think anything we write will go. What we need is a perfect balance of reality and drama. How about basing it on Rambo?
Dae-young: Hm. That was based on the Vietnam War so the firearms won’t match. Let’s base it off the Bourne film series. Lieutenant Yoon likes Matt Damon.
Shi-jin: Okay, that sounds perfect. I’ll leave you to it.
Dae-young: Where are you going?
Shi-jin: If we both write something, you’ll say three lashings and I'll say five. The details won’t match up.
Dae-young: Why do I have to be the one to write it?
Shi-jin: Lieutenant Yoon’s in Urk. Your girlfriend is abroad. Good luck.
Shi-jin: Do you remember dumping me here?
Mo-yeon: Of course I do. I might do the same today.
Shi-jin: You’re kidding right? I have trauma.
Mo-yeon: I’m serious. I need to ask you something. Will you continue going to the department store? I want to know if you want to be a hero.
Shi-jin: No soldier cares about becoming a hero who must die. We just aim to preserve peace where peace is needed.
Mo-yeon: Then that means you’ll keep doing it even if I object.
Shi-jin: Will you object?
Mo-yeon: Should I not? Even though next time, you might never return? Don’t be scared. I won’t object. What’s the use of objecting? You’ll feel apologetic, but you’ll never be able to give it up, and I’ll hate you for it, but then I’ll support you. Rather than doing that, I want to keep peace. If my support brings you peace, that is.
Shi-jin: I’m thankful and sorry. I’m sorry that apologizing is all that I can do.
Myung-joo: How’s the report coming on?
Dae-young: I’m suffering under the pain of creation.
Myung-joo: Can you even use the software?
Dae-young: I sometimes wonder what you think I am.
Myung-joo: You’re a guy.
Myung-joo: For 157 days since then, I wondered just how I should kill you. That means I thought of no one else but you. That made me miss you so much that I wanted to die. I came back alive. Aren’t you proud?
Dae-young: I’m glad to see you’re well.
Myung-joo: Cheers.
Dae-young: Let’s go see your father tomorrow. Let’s go hand in hand.
Myung-joo: Right. We have to talk about that, don’t we?
Dae-young: We don’t. I won’t leave the army. Not unless you make me.
Myung-joo: Do you mean that?
Dae-young: I’ll tell your father that. I'll say that as I hold your hand.
Myung-joo: Let’s go first thing tomorrow. As soon as day breaks. I have a plan, too.
Dae-young: I’m here for the two cups of tea you offered.
General Yoon: Very well. Sit down. You too, Myung-joo. Orderly, bring us two cups of tea.
Myung-joo: Dad, I’m pregnant.
Dae-young: No, Sir. It’s not true, Sir. Was this your plan?
Myung-joo: Most people do the deed, then confess. I decided to confess first and do the deed afterward. When facing a stronger force, it’s best to attack first.
General Yoon: Does she have to be here? Talk, then. Whether it’s a preemptive attack or a carpet bombing, I’ll listen.
Myung-joo: I....
General Yoon: You be quiet.
Dae-young: I’ll get to the point. I gave you my word that I would leave the army. But, I can’t keep that promise, Sir.
General Yoon: Is that so?
Dae-young: I was locked up in a basement, goodness knows where, and my flesh was torn and my bones broken. But I never regretted becoming a soldier. I believe our country should not lose a soldier like me. I want to leave when I should, with my dignity intact. I will find another way to gain your approval, Sir.
General Yoon: This isn’t about my approval. Our country already acknowledged your service. And as your commanding officer, I am proud that you will be my son-in-law.
Man: I’m sorry. Are you all right?
Ja-ae: Yes.
Sang-hyun: I’ll take care of her. I’m her guardian.
Ja-ae: Guardian? It’s fine. I’m just tired, that’s all.
Sang-hyun: Sit down and rest if you’re tired. Don’t collapse in another person’s arms. And just tell me if you saw something. I know that you saw all my folders. It was in the recycle bin folder.
Ja-ae: You said you wanted it deleted.
Sang-hyun: I meant when I die. Why did you delete it?
Ja-ae: Why do you have it?
Sang-hyun: To propose to you. That’s my proposal saying that from my teens through thirties, you were the only one in my life. You have no love.
Ja-ae: Haven’t you ever thought that it could be out of pity?
Sang-hyun: What do you know? I know my feelings. There’s no doubt that it’s love.
Ja-ae: Stop.
Sang-hyun: What? Confession?
Ja-ae: Yes. After I pay you back all the money I owe you.
Sang-hyun: All right. You’re not joking right? Where are you going?
Ja-ae: To earn money.
Dae-young: Did you read my will?
Myung-joo: Why would I read that? Everyone writes lyrics on them, or copies someone else’s.
Dae-young: I didn’t copy anything.
Myung-joo: Don’t try to fool me.
Dae-young: My operation was always about running away. You, who’s more courageous than anyone, loved me very much, who’s more cowardly than anyone. I want to thank you and apologize to you. If you are reading this will, I, the cowardly one, will remain as a painful memory until the end. Do not forgive me. And, as much as I always thought of you, I hope you live a happy life. I love you with all my heart, Myung-joo. That will never change, whether I live or die.
Myung-joo: Stop making things up. There is no way you memorized that.
Dae-young: I wrote that letter over a hundred times. I wanted to run to you for over a hundred times.
Dae-young: Attention. All who are lower in rank than me, must close their eyes right now.
*kiss*
Myung-joo: All who are lower in rank than me must close their eyes, too. You must close your eyes, too.
*KISS*
Mo-yeon: Hippocrates once said this. Well, he said a lot of stuff. Some of his words remained in my head, but some of his words went to my heart. Here are a few as an example. “As a licensed practitioner, I will provide treatments according to my conscience and honor."
Staff Sergeant Choi: "I, as a non-commissioned officer of Special Forces, pledge to do my best for my country and my people."
Medical Student: "I will disregard any race, religion, nationality, political affiliation, or social status when it comes to fulfilling my duty to my patients."
Choi: "I will remain within the boundaries of the law as I carry out my duties as a soldier."
Student: "I won’t use my knowledge against humanity even when I am under threat."
Choi: "Even when I am under threat, or any emergencies, I won’t back up. I will keep the peace of this country even when I am standing at gunpoint."
Mo-yeon: Today, many future Yoo Shi-jins and Kang Mo-yeons solemnly swore their oaths. I thought, and I truly hoped, that what they swore today will be kept in any land, under every sun on this earth.
Shi-jin: How did such a woman become mine?
Mo-yeon: You must’ve saved a nation in your previous life. My goodness. You must have been a soldier in your previous life, too.
Shi-jin: I did get promoted a lot in this life.
Mo-yeon: My goodness. We’re going to date again in our next life. You are saving this nation in this life, too.
Shi-jin: My gosh. You're a kind of woman I can get only after saving a nation.
Mo-yeon: Who said you’d get me?
Shi-jin: Aren’t you going to date me in our next life?
Mo-yeon: If I say no, will you give up? Make sure you come and find me in our next life, okay?
Shi-jin: It’s a promise. So, what did you wish for?
Mo-yeon: Well. You'd be surprised.
Shi-jin: What is it?
Mo-yeon: I wished that you’d kiss me. Do you think that will come true?
Shi-jin: There’s always a way.
Shi-jin: I love you.
Mo-yeon: Me too.
Shi-jin: It was a question.
Mo-yeon: I love you. That’s my answer.
Shi-jin: Me too.
Mo-yeon: The bride and groom will be here after they change.
Min-ji: Ye-hwa was kind of pretty all dressed up like that. Her wedding dress was unique, too.
Mo-yeon: And that’s a unique sight, too. *points to Dae-young*
Shi-jin: My goodness, will you put that away? Why did you catch that bouquet?
Dae-young: The bride gave all of her strength to throw this. How can I throw it away?
Myung-joo: Leave him alone. He has a lot of memories about weddings.
Chi-hoon: Don’t you love an ending like this? We overcame all of life’s difficulties with love, and everyone lived happily ever after. The end.
*lights go out*
Mo-yeon: is this a kissing time?
Ja-ae: Is there a show coming up?
Sang-hyun: I doubt the entire city would turn off the lights for this.
Mo-yeon: This isn’t a flashback. What’s wrong with this scene?
Shi-jin: I don’t think this is leading to a romantic scene.
*lights come back on*
Waitress: It was a volcano! A volcano just erupted!
Min-ji: And I thought we were so lucky.
Dae-young: I should’ve gotten discharged.
Myung-joo: It’s too late now.
Ja-ae: Get up.
Sang-hyun: Okay.
Chi-hoon: Are we all giving up our vacation then?
Mo-yeon: I guess it’s time for me to wreck this pair of shoes now.
Shi-jin: I feel that this is the beginning of a very long report. Let’s go, everyone.
I've thoroughly enjoyed requoting this drama, even the nights when I was cudgeling my brain in frustration trying to decide which quotes to keep in and which to leave out. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and I wish you many happy rewatches of this delightful drama.

ReQuotes: Descendants of the Sun ~ Episode Fifteen
This penultimate episode was wrenchingly fulfilling. The Empress and I started it, intending to stop halfway... only to look around us as the end credits rolled and say, "Oooops."
Myung-joo: Say what you need to say. I’m leaving as soon as I’m done. I’m nearly done.
Dae-young: I don’t have anything to say.
Myung-joo: Then why did you ask to meet for lunch?
Dae-young: Because you look too thin.
Myung-joo: I’m a little confused. What are we? Have we broken up or was it just a quarrel? What are we? Are we going to break up or are we in the middle of a break up? Or have we broken up?
Dae-young: I’m trying to get to you.
Myung-joo: So you haven’t changed your mind.
Ki-bum: Why are you here? Are you here for me? Really? All of you together? You had the nerve to? Wait, was that inappropriate to say?
Shi-jin: The nerve? We are here for you. Sergeant Gong, do you think he can pass the exam like this?
Sergeant Gong: We have a solution. This will make you pass the exam.
Sergeant Im: Good luck.
Staff Sergeant Choi: Here, have some snacks and be in the best condition. You can do it.
Dae-young: When in doubt, always go for number three. You can do it.
Ki-bum: Corporal Kim Ki-bum. I am a soldier. Taking a qualification exam is nothing. I will return with victory. Salute.
General Yoon: The operation will take three months. I am thinking of sending you on this operation on the excuse that we haven’t found a replacement for you yet. Or, I can approve your discharge application right now. What should I do?
Dae-young: I want to go, Sir.
General Yoon: Okay. You may go. In light of the specific situation of Team Alpha, I will sign your discharge papers after you have a replacement. Let’s just leave it at that. We don’t know when we will find a replacement for you.
Dae-young: What does that mean?
General Yoon: When you come back, come back with Myung-joo. We can have some tea together.
Dae-young: Sir?
General Yoon: The gathering time is at 21:00. Don’t be late. Stay healthy. I will see you again.
Mo-yeon: You’re two and a half hours early! What is it? Wait. You didn’t come here early, did you?
Shi-jin: No.
Mo-yeon: Are you going to the department store again?
Shi-jin: Yes. It will take long this time. I wanted to see your face before I leave.
Mo-yeon: How long will it take? A week? two weeks?
Shi-jin: Three months.
Mo-yeon: Three months?? Is the department store abroad?
Shi-jin: Let’s just say I’m joining the army. Soldiers usually go on leave after 100 days.
Mo-yeon: So you want me to wait for you for three months, is that right?
Shi-jin: Don’t drink with another guy.
Mo-yeon: I’m sorry. I’m trying not to cry, but it’s not easy.
Shi-jin: I’m sorry for making you upset.
Mo-yeon: Then come back soon. Stay safe. Don’t be late.
Shi-jin: I will stay safe. I will stay alive. I will come back, I promise.
Mo-yeon: This is too much. If you’d posted a letter from Mars, I’d have gotten it by now. I’m going to get drunk with a really handsome guy. Come and get me.
Myung-joo: If he doesn’t read it, just assume he’s in a place with no service. Why do you text, then get angry every day?
Mo-yeon: So he can see, and feel bad about making me angry. Is it always this impossible to get through?
Myung-joo: Whether it was or not, I never got a reply. We were broken up for longer than we were together.
Mo-yeon: Did you make up after the last fight?
Myung-joo: There is no making up. Yhis is no love spat. This is a battle. It’s something that I can’t afford to lose. He left his dog tags, so I think I have the upper hand.
Both: Cheers.
Mo-yeon: Just wait until he’s back. I’ll forget all about work and stay with him for a week.
Myung-joo: I’ll confiscate Dae-young’s phone and go traveling. I’ll reserve a hotel room in an isolated place and lock him up just to fight.
Sergeant Kim: Sergeant Kim Bum-rae.
Myung-joo: What is it?
Sergeant Kim: Sergeant Kim Bum-rae.
Myung-joo: I’m listening. Talk. He’s back, isn’t he? At last. Tell him to wait.
Sergeant Kim: Sergeant Kim Bum-rae. I’m here to report to you.
Mo-yeon: Staff Sergeant Choi? Hello. I saw the jeep and thought you were your Captain Yoo. What are you doing here?
Staff Sergeant Choi: I’m really sorry.
Mo-yeon: About what?
Sergeant Kim: Special Forces soldiers Captain Yoo Shi-jin and Sergeant Major Seo Dae-young....
Choi: During the mission, they passed away.
Mo-yeon: They did what?
Myung-joo: What kind of a report is that?
Mo-yeon: I-I don’t understand what you just said? What now?
Myung-joo: Give me a real report. The way you usually do. Say that again. Say it again!
Shi-jin: Prior to any mission, we write a will. I really hope that you will never have to read this. If, by chance, you are reading this letter, it means that I couldn’t keep my word. I told you not to worry. I said I wouldn’t get hurt. I said I wouldn’t die. I said I would return. I failed to keep them all. I apologize. Wherever you were was always bright. I met you, I fell in love with you, and this is how we must part. I am very sorry.
Myung-joo: No, right? It’s not true. It isn’t.
General Yoon: I'm sorry.
Myung-joo: Dad, please. Please, Dad. You should tell me it’s not true. It’s not true.
General Yoon: Dae-young left this for you.
Myung-joo: No. I don’t want it. I won't take it. If I read this, if I take this, it means he’s really gone. This is all your fault. We could’ve been happy and you stole that time from us. I never got to make up with him. I said all sorts of hurtful things.
General Yoon: These are the last words of an honorable soldier. Keep it well.
Myung-joo: I won’t. I don’t want to.
Lt. Col. Park: A week from today we will make a special announcement. Captain Yoo Shi-jin and Sergeant Major Seo Dae-young will have died in a car accident in a training exercise. We require you to sign a Non-Disclosure agreement. We ask for your cooperation.
Mo-yeon: Did his death help save any lives?
Lt. Col. Park: Yes, it did.
Mo-yeon: Did his death help to preserve peace in a certain area?
Lt. Col. Park: Yes, it did.
Mo-yeon: Did he die to serve our country?
Lt. Col. Park: Yes. He did.
Mo-yeon: And yet his country requires me to sign this paper.
Lt. Col. Park: I apologize.
Mo-yeon: What is it with you? Why choose a life with an end like this? Why are even your deaths a secret? I hope that what I’m about to do is what you’d want me to do, Captain Yoo.
Mo-yeon: I just remembered something.
Ji-soo: What is it?
Mo-yeon: Just this and that. Water, wine, candles, x-ray and a hairband. I must be losing it.
Ji-soo: Why are you laughing? Have you really lost it?
Mo-yeon: I thought that I had gotten better. I think I might just go crazy.
Ji-soo: Do you want a hug?
Mo-yeon: No.
Ji-soo: Do you want more wine?
Mo-yeon: Yes.
Ji-soo: You can have it all.
Mo-yeon: Why are you drinking in the middle of the day?
Myung-joo: I’m adjusting to the time difference. It’s nighttime in Urk. I’m being dispatched again.
Mo-yeon: I see. It must be nice to go back to Urk again.
Myung-joo: If you’re jealous, do you want to join me?
Mo-yeon: Should I? They went together. We can go together, too.
Myung-joo: You’re talking nonsense.
Myung-joo: I’m scheduled to leave on Monday morning. Since I have three days left, how about three days and no nights? Will you cooperate?
Mo-yeon: Sure. Strangely, these days, I only remember the good times.
Myung-joo: I only remember his wrongdoings.
Mo-yeon: By the way, how did Captain Yoo and Sergeant Major Seo first meet each other? I was curious how they got to know each other. I never got around to asking them. Now I can’t ask them.
Myung-joo: I know the answer. They met because of a girl.
Dae-young: I’m going out with Lieutenant Yoon Myung-joo.
Shi-jin: How long have you been going out with her?
Dae-young: It’s been a year.
Shi-jin: When did you first see Myung-joo?
Dae-young: I met her a month ago at the 1,000 mile march.
Shi-jin: But you’ve been going out for a year?
Dae-young: I’ll make this clear, I’m going out with Lieutenant Yoon Myung-joo.
Shi-jin: Do you know that Myung-joo’s father is a Lieutenant General?
Dae-young: I think that people can make up to three mistakes in their lifetime. His military achievements are not an obstacle to our love. I’ll tell you once again. I’m going out with Lieutenant Yoon Myung-joo.
Shi-jin: I really hope you will go out with her.
Dae-young: I will. It’s been a year.
Shi-jin: Right. I’m envious.
Dae-young: Have you given up?
Shi-jin: I might come across a woman I met a month ago and dated a year, too. I don’t think we’ll ever fight over Myung-joo. If we do fight, let’s be on the same side.
Mo-yeon: Daniel? When did you get here? What are you doing here? What is this?
Daniel: I came here to protest against the meeting on the FTA, but I was banned from entering. I just can’t cross over that line, so I’ll camp out here and protest alone.
Mo-yeon: You’re awesome.
Daniel: I’m an international criminal who’s banned from over 12 countries.
Mo-yeon: And girls love bad boys.
Daniel: Are you on vacation?
Mo-yeon: No, I’m volunteering.
Daniel: Are you going to the Albanian refugee camp? I heard that from Chi-hoon. Volunteering is very addictive, you know.
Mo-yeon: It’s not so grand. It's a personal reason. It’s the anniversary of his death tomorrow. I’m going there to pay my respects.
Myung-joo: How did you end up here towards the end of your service?
Ki-bum: It turns out the army was perfect for me.
Myung-joo: Didn’t Dae-young often eat noodles?
Ki-bum: Yes, he had it often.
Myung-joo: Let’s eat. This is good.
Ki-bum: Hey look. It’s snowing outside.
Myung-joo: Really?
Ki-bum: Wow. That’s amazing. It never snows in Urk.
Shi-jin: This is Big Boss. Beauty, please turn around, over.
Myung-joo: Say what you need to say. I’m leaving as soon as I’m done. I’m nearly done.
Dae-young: I don’t have anything to say.
Myung-joo: Then why did you ask to meet for lunch?

ReQuotes: Descendants of the Sun ~ Episode Fourteen
The action ramps back up in this one, which again had me squealing out loud.
Mo-yeon: Please don’t do this to me. You can’t do this to me. Please wake up. Please wake up, you fool!
Shi-jin: That really hurts.
Nurse: His heartbeat has returned.
Mo-yeon: Shi-jin, can you hear me? Do you know where we are? Can you see me? Can you hear me?
Shi-jin: What about Senior Lieutenant Ahn?
Mo-yeon: What?
Shi-jin: The other wounded patient who came here with me. Is he alive?
Mo-yeon: Who is he? Who on earth is that? This is not the time to worry for others. You just came back from the dead. If the cardiac arrest had lasted another minute, you'd be dead. I wouldn’t have been able to save you.
Shi-jin: Your pretty face seems very familiar.
Mo-yeon: You jerk!
Nurse: There’s a rumor that he’s a North Korean.
Eun-ji: Should we be treating North Koreans?
Chi-hoon: Of course. He’s wounded. We took an oath.
Eun-ji: Weren’t you scared? He was covered in blood with gunshot wounds. I’m pretty sure running into billboards drunk can’t do that.
Chi-hoon: I’ve seen worse in Urk. I've witnessed men staring down their gun barrels, screaming “Alert, Alert.” I’ve heard triggers clicking, “Hands up. Move and I’ll shoot.”
Eun-ji: Stop messing around. You made that up.
Ja-ae: I really want to kick you. Check the news. Politicians make me so angry.
Chairman: I can fight, too. I served in the army.
Secretary: Did you really?
Chairman: Who do you think I am?
Secretary: A draft dodger, sir.
Chairman: That’s not what I asked!
Lt. Col. Park: Has he said anything?
Sergeant Choi: Sr. Lt. Ahn’s still quiet. Captain Yoo is doing the talking.
Lt. Col. Park: What’s he saying? Is he urging him to negotiate by mentioning his family?
Choi: Well sir, he’s saying that adding vinegar gives it a zing and mustard gives it a zap.
Lt. Col. Park: WHAT?
Dae-young: They’re talking about naengmyeon.
Choi: It’s Sr. Lt. Ahn’s exclusive recipe.
Lt. Col. Park: Are you all out of your minds?! There’s a report due soon and they’re discussing condiments. How can a captain be so clueless about official protocols?
Shi-jin: Did you find anything out from the chip in his arm?
Dae-young: It’s protected by a very sophisticated code. It’ll take a week to break it. The North wants us to hand him over by tomorrow morning.
Shi-jin: We’ll most likely comply. We don’t have time.
Dae-young: Getting him to talk is best.
Shi-jin: He knows you’re listening in, so he’s reluctant to open up.
Dae-young: This is usually when photos of his mother and family should come in handy.
Shi-jin: Let’s try something else. I need Mo-yeon’s help. I also need the chip.
Dae-young: Do you mean the chip which is being analyzed by NIS this very instant?
Shi-jin: Will it be hard to steal? I think we made a mistake. We should’ve made a copy first.
Dae-young: Do you mean something like this?
Shi-jin: You’re so smart.
Mo-yeon: I need ten minutes. This is the only probable place without listening bugs.
Ji-soo: Listening bugs? What are you talking about?
Mo-yeon: It’s best if you don’t know. Right now, I work for the government.
Ji-soo: Does the government know about this?
Shi-jin: Are you trying to avoid Commander Choe who is coming to get you? I thought about why you came looking for me. I’m your friend from far away, because your enemy is also my enemy. Am I right? Did you betray your country, or did your country betray you?
Ahn Jung-joon: A warrior never betrays his country. Please. Help me escape.
Shi-jin: You’ll die if you go back. Regardless of who betrayed whom.
Jung-joon: There is something I must finish.
Shi-jin: I said you’ll die.
Jung-joon: Even if I do, I’d rather die on home soil. Please let me go.
Hee-eun: Did you see Doctor Kang’s boyfriend? I heard that he is handsome.
Ji-soo: What’s the use of being handsome when he got hospitalized with a North Korean solider?
Hee-eun: I heard that the North Korean soldier is also handsome.
Ji-soo: I hope reunification will happen soon.
Dae-young: She’s coming. There's 10 meters left. Hurry up, there’s 5 meters left.
Shi-jin: I can’t take off my pants because of my cast.
Dae-young: My gosh, why did you get it done again?
Shi-jin: I wanted to commit a perfect crime.
Dae-young: She’s here. Hurry up.
Dae-young: He just fell asleep.
Mo-yeon: It’s good to sleep a lot. I hope he didn’t go out or anything.
Dae-young: Of course not.
Mo-yeon: I’ll be back once he wakes up.
Dae-young: Okay.
Shi-jin: My gosh, that was bad. Help me.
Dae-young: Why did you get another cast?
Shi-jin: I didn’t get hurt because I wanted to.
Mo-yeon: What are you doing here?
Myung-joo: It’s been a while. How have you been?
Mo-yeon: Every day is filled with incidents. Are you here to see Shi-jin?
Myung-joo: Yes. He’s not dead, is he?
Mo-yeon: Not yet. I'll probably end up killing him soon though. Go ahead. Dae-young is there, too.
Myung-joo: I saw his car parked when I was parking. That’s why I’m here.
Mo-yeon: What do you mean? Did you two fight?
Myung-joo: No. We broke up. We have nothing to do with each other anymore.
Mo-yeon: Really? Why? When? Well, I understand.
Myung-joo: What is with your conclusion?
Mo-yeon: I mean that I understand. His room number is 710.They are like the characters from Dumb and Dumber. I hope the country never finds out that they are like that.
Shi-jin: Dae-young, if she brought something, you should at least ask her to sit.
Myung-joo: You two can talk. I’m leaving.
Dae-young: I’ll leave.
Myung-joo: I’m leaving.
Shi-jin: Who will I be with if both of you leave?
Myung-joo: It would have been better if he was lying down in bed.
Shi-jin: He did lie down in bed instead of me a while ago, actually. Did you know? Dae-young is very feminine. He even ran his fingers through his hair and....
Dae-young: I was just joking.
Shi-jin: Right, he even had this facial expression on, too. He said ‘oh my’ as he ran his fingers through his hair.
Dae-young: I didn’t say 'oh my'.
Myung-joo: My goodness. You really are like Dumb and Dumber. Rest well.
Ja-ae: What do you think they’re doing?
Sang-hyun: In my opinion, they fought, and Myung-joo probably broke up with him for Dae-young’s sake. That’s why Myung-joo can’t give in. Because Myung-joo is a good woman.
Ja-ae: In my opinion, Dae-young knows where Myung-joo hid. He wants to go after her but he can’t do that. He wants to keep Myung-joo’s pride because she hid it so well. Because Dae-young is a good man.
Sang-hyun: Choose one. What do you like?
Ja-ae: I like this one.
Sang-hyun: Hey, you just interfered with my life. Why did you do that? Do you like me?
Ja-ae: The employee recommended this one, too.
Sang-hyun: You were watching me. Why? Do you like me?
Ja-ae: Yes.
Sang-hyun: You said you like me. Why? Do you like... wait, WHAT?
Mo-yeon: Don’t be scared. I’m off duty.
Shi-jin: Why didn’t you go home?
Mo-yeon: I am your guardian until today.
Shi-jin: When do I get dismissed? Can I stay here for a week? I love seeing you once every two hours for a checkup.
Mo-yeon: If you love it so much, why did you go out? Where did you go?
Shi-jin: I went to the rooftop to get some air.
Mo-yeon: I went there to check.
Shi-jin: I didn’t say I went to the rooftop of this building.
Shi-jin: I am sorry for worrying you. Thank you for saving my life.
Mo-yeon: Why do we always thank each other for saving one another’s life? Other couples thank each other for dropping one another home or for doing something special on their anniversary, don’t they?
Shi-jin: I am sorry.
Mo-yeon: Are you sure?
Shi-jin: What do you mean?
Mo-yeon: I saw the kind of peace you have kept on the news. But if you are really sorry, don’t ever appear before me covered in blood. Please.
Shi-jin: Copy that.
Mo-yeon: Please don’t do this to me. You can’t do this to me. Please wake up. Please wake up, you fool!

ReQuotes: Descendants of the Sun ~ Episode Thirteen
With everyone back in Seoul, the life-and-death action takes a shift downward, but still manages to keep the narrative from falling apart and feeling too bland. We also receive Yoo Ah-in's highly anticipated cameo.
Mo-yeon: The only thing that I saw at that moment was the explosion. Everything collapsed around me and became a mess. My heart raced and my mind became numb.
Pyo Ji-soo: What is she talking about?
Former Urk Volunteer Nurse: About the earthquake she was in.
Ji-soo: Earthquake? Aren’t you talking about the moment you fell in love?
Mo-yeon: Oh right. Hey. You’re the one that told everyone that I was dating, right?
Nurse: Everyone already knew about it when I arrived in Korea.
Mo-yeon: Then who was it?
Ji-soo: What does that matter? It’s true. Talk about that man. How is it going out with a man who is in special forces?
Mo-yeon: You get to know what to do when a car is hanging off a cliff, how to get out of a minefield and what to do when held hostage while wearing a bomb. Things like that.
Ji-soo: What is she talking about?
Nurse: I can’t figure it out this time.
Shi-jin: Are you happy to be back in Korea?
Mo-yeon: I’m still a bit swamped. I kind of miss Urk. There aren’t any singing soldiers here. You’re not here either.
Shi-jin: Are you missing the soldiers or me?
Mo-yeon: I miss the peace in Urk. I’m talking about that.
Shi-jin: I’m sorry to bother you, but I have a message to deliver.
Dae-young: You seem to pick these moments to deliver your messages.
Shi-jin: It’s what I live for these days. Here you go. It’s an order for your transfer.
Dae-young: Is it for Lieutenant Yoon?
Shi-jin: Yes. She will return to Korea.
Myung-joo: Really? How could this happen? Did my dad pull strings?
Shi-jin: Why are you talking about the Commander? It’s an order from the battalion commander and my influence.
Myung-joo: What kind of influence do you have? You can’t even look after yourself.
Shi-jin: She regained her health, but she needs to take absolute rest for some time. I’m worried if she’ll be okay here.
Lt. Col. Park: So, are you saying that she should go back to Korea?
Shi-jin: Well, when Lieutenant Yoon was sick and hovering between life and death, you wanted to send her to the U.S. Army base. If she finds that out, I’m sure she will be very disappointed.
Lt. Col. Park: Yoo Shi-jin! Let me get this straight. Is this a threat? Because if this is a threat... it’s working.
Kim Eun-ji: You seem eager to show off your hard work. They sent you there for voluntary service, but I hear you got a boyfriend. I heard you are going out with a soldier.
Mo-yeon: Did you make sure not to perform a surgery on any wrong patients while I was gone?
Eun-ji: You are ridiculous. There was a rumor that you and the hospital director were dating. But I can’t believe that you already got a new boyfriend. Is that why you got fired from the VIP ward?
Mo-yeon: Doctor Kim. From the past month of doing volunteer service, I’ve learned quite a lesson. We are all happy. I want you to be happy too. And you should also become a better doctor.
Eun-ji: Stop bragging. All you did is just give them shots and take some pictures. Do you think you are Schweitzer or something?
Eun-ji: Ooops. don’t be upset.
Sang-hyun: I know what you are all thinking right now.
Min-ji: It was the most unpleasant moment in my entire life.
Mo-yeon: Why didn’t I do anything? I should have pulled on her hair.
Ja-ae: I know. I had two free hands, too.
Chi-hoon: I should have thrown the tray at her. I should have been wild.
Dae-young: Current time is 16:43. For the next 72 hours, we shall drink.
Shi-jin: Don’t even think of trying to run away. To zero nights.
Dae-young: And three days.
Mo-yeon: What’s going on here? When did they get here?
Myung-joo: Why are you so late?
Mo-yeon: I just got off the night shift. Do they always drink until they are hammered? What kind of a reunion is this? I bought clothes and put on facial masks to go to the airport.
Myung-joo: The kimchi stew here is good. You should try some.
Mo-yeon: Where are you going?
Myung-joo: To the base. I’m not on furlough.
Mo-yeon: Don’t go alone. Take Dae-young with you.
Myung-joo: Zero nights and three days. He’s staying here.
Mo-yeon: Mom?
Shi-jin: Mom?!
Mo-yeon: Mom’s coat. Mom’s bag. Mom.
Mrs. Kang: Who is this young man?
Shi-jin: Nice to meet you. I’m Mo-yeon’s boyfriend. My name is Yoo Shi-jin.
Mo-yeon: Are you my boyfriend? Really? He’s my boyfriend. Isn’t he handsome, Mom?
Mrs. Kang: You always go too far whenever you drink. She’s a good girl, but she has bad drinking habits.
Shi-jin: I don’t mind that. I think it’s cute.
Mrs. Kang: I’m glad you think so.
Shi-jin: Are you sober?
Mo-yeon: Of course I am. I didn’t drink that much.
Shi-jin: You did. You change when you’re drunk.
Mo-yeon: Don’t say that. That was me. I remember everything.
Shi-jin: I don’t believe that. Oh, right. What did your mother say? Did she like me?
Mo-yeon: Did you meet my mother? When?
Shi-jin: You don’t remember a thing! Don’t you dare drink with other guys.
Mo-yeon: Hey, look at you being jealous.
Shi-jin: You’re still drunk, aren’t you?
Mo-yeon: Hey, you’re so smart!
Ahn Jung-joon: How is the wound I gave you last time? I’m sorry about that.
Shi-jin: Are you here because you got demoted? Sorry about that.
Jung-joon: You're still as witty. Would you like to see who wins this time, minus the pen?
Shi-jin: I doubt you want my help to write a report. I won’t go lightly just because you're the host.
Jung-joon: You're still as gutsy. Be glad that you’re our guest and that we’re facing the same way. For fighters like us, we’re only at peace when we’re facing the same way like this.
Chairman: How is Dr. Kang? Is she struggling in the emergency room?
Secretary: No, she is actually very cheery.
Chairman: Are you sending her flowers every day?
Secretary: She returns every delivery. Thanks to her, my office smells very nice.
Chairman: Have you found out about her boyfriend?
Secretary: That’s what I find strange. My army friend can’t find out much about him. I only found out that he’s in Special Forces. But I got my hands on a photo. Here you go.
Chairman: Are you kidding me? Which one is he?
Secretary: I don’t know that yet.
Chairman: What? You little....
Shi-jin: It’s this person. He’s Dr Kang Mo-yeon’s boyfriend. Born in 1983. His name is Yoo Shi-jin. He’s a captain of the Korean army. He’s a Pisces and his blood type is A.
Secretary: I see. It’s this person.
Chairman: But this person is him!
Shi-jin: Yes, well then I’ll be off.
Mo-yeon: What are you doing?
Shi-jin: I thought the size would be similar to my hand, so I bought it in this size. I think I was right. I bought a present.
Mo-yeon: Did you just measure the size of my neck by strangling me?
Shi-jin: No. My hand just went very near to your neck.
Waiter: It’s been a while. But I see that your girlfriends have changed.
Myung-joo & Mo-yeon: Girlfriends?
Waiter: They came with a wolf and a rabbit last time. Stuffed animals. Please enjoy.
Dae-young: This is my real girlfriend.
Shi-jin: This is my comrade.
Mo-yeon: Comrade?
Shi-jin: Yes. We fought and won in Urk.
Myung-joo: When did you come here? And what was that about stuffed animals?
Shi-jin: It’s when your boyfriend got into a fight against 17 men in order to get his phone back which had your photo in it. It was the most difficult battle that I’d ever fought.
Mo-yeon: By the way, Lieutenant Yoon, how do you know Sergeant Major Seo’s password?
Myung-joo: I set it for him. He thinks it’s the only password you can set.
Shi-jin: When you buy a phone, they give you a little pamphlet. It includes detailed instructions on how to use your phone.
Dae-young: It’s fine. That’s the only password I know of.
Myung-joo: How could you do this? How could you make me find out like this?
Dae-young: I know how you feel but....
Myung-joo: Don’t pretend like you know. You can’t do this to me if you know.
Dae-young: I decided to do this to not to break up with you. Did you think it was easy for me?
Myung-joo: It was not easy, I know. Then what about me? Do you think it was easy for me? It’s a promise I got after threatening my dad with my life. Did you think it was easy for me to be so bold?
Dae-young: Exactly. Why did you do that?
Myung-joo: Because you kept on running away. Where were you when I was fighting against my dad? Do I mean anything to you? How could you not say a word? How could you not ask me?
Dae-young: I did ask you. I asked you a multitude of times. The times I ran away represented a hundred words, and the darned times when I couldn’t pick up the phone was a thousand times asking myself. And how could you ask your father to do that? I guess we didn’t mean much to each other.
Myung-joo: How is that the same? I tried to make him understand.
Dae-young: That’s how you made me look foolish. I need to be acknowledged, not understood. I wanted the commander to choose me because of me and because of who I am, not because his daughter asked him to. But, if the only reason he agreed to let us see each other was because it was a wish from his daughter who almost died, I cannot be with you.
Shi-jin: Are you eating that by yourself?
Dae-young: It’s too little for two.
Shi-jin: Did you only buy one?
Dae-young: I bought two and ate them both. I'm craving sugar. I think I have depression.
Shi-jin: My gosh, how can you get depressed so suddenly?
Dae-young: I broke up with Myung-joo.
Shi-jin: WHAT? Why? Who broke up with whom?
Dae-young: I got dumped. I can’t tell you the reason.
When?

ReQuotes: Descendants of the Sun ~ Episode Twelve
Given the way this episode ended, I'm not sure what they can find to fill four more whole episodes, but I shall continue to trust in the drama that has gone above and beyond my expectations so far and look forward to the usual blend of humor and action later this week.

Dae-young: We will begin carrying out Unauthorized Black Operation. Violence with the armed gang is to be expected. Except for us, there are no backups. It will be an operation outside the uniform. And there’s a chance that you may not return. Anyone who wants out, can do so now. Does anyone want out?
Sergeants Choi, Gong, and Im: NO SIR.
Dae-young: Good. Vacation is over. As of this moment, everyone is back in Team Alpha.
Shi-jin: What are you doing here?
Dae-young: What are you doing here alone with your hands up?
Shi-jin: I was intimidated, thinking I was alone. Now I’m welcoming my friends with open arms.
Dae-young: Don’t be intimidated. All Team Alpha members have returned from furlough.
Shi-jin: I will express my gratitude later. This is Captain Big Boss. Here is the operation order for Team Alpha. Piccolo and Harry Potter, protect the children. Leave this place as soon as possible.
Gong and Im: Yes, sir.
Shi-jin: Wolf and Snoopy, you will conduct hostage rescue operations with me.
Dae-young and Choi: Yes, sir.
General Yoon: As of 2200 this evening the Republic of Korea special forces began conducting Unauthorized Black Operation.
Chief of National Security: Look here General Yoon. I never passed you the order. This is unbelievable. The US military promised to rescue the hostage within 24 hours.
General Yoon: Korean soldiers have been dispatched to save a Korean’s life. There is nothing unbelievable about this, sir.
Chief: This is not just a simple issue of a kidnapped civilian. What will we do if our troop deployment botches a CIA operation? Who will take responsibility for that?
General Yoon: I understand your foreign affairs predicament, sir.
Chief: Stop interrupting me. This is a matter of national security which requires diplomatic and political considerations. So let’s leave the hostage rescue operation to the US military. We must pay attention to security maintenance and press control.
General Yoon: Hey. You, politician.
Chief: What did you just say? I just misheard you, right?
General Yoon: Listen carefully if you didn’t hear me correctly. I don’t care if national security means secret room politics and camera diplomacy to you. For my subordinates, it means sacrificing their youth to protect our homeland, and they devote their lives to perform their duties. The reason they answer the call of duty for a country who doesn’t appreciate their sacrifice whether they’re killed or captured, is because they believe that the lives of citizens is national security itself. I will bear all responsibility for everything. You can just choose your tie and be a politician for the journalists.
Shi-jin: How long will it take?
Choi: One minute. I’ll have it disarmed by then. Try not to move.
Mo-yeon: I’m not moving. I’m trying not to but....
Shi-jin: Look at me. Look into my eyes. Do you remember when I joked about the landmine? You told me to bring an expert. I’ve been wearing a uniform for 15 years, and I haven’t seen a bomb he couldn’t disarm. He’s the best we have. So don’t worry. I will not let you die.
President: Is our hostage safe?
Chief of National Security: Yes, but the CIA strongly protested against this mission and its end result.
President: So, I guess we’re in a diplomatic bind then. It will affect many trade deals.
Chief: Before it becomes a liability, you should end the matter by punishing the officer in charge.
President: Is that so?
General Yoon: I’m Yoon Gil-joon, commander of Special Forces. I agree with him. I shall take full responsibility.
President: Why should you be punished for a successful rescue op? the hostage is safe. Now it’s a political and diplomatic issue. That means it’s now in my hands. I shall take care of it now.
Chief: But Mr. President....
President: List up all the issues you think will arise from this situation. General Yoon, thank you for rescuing one of ours. I also heard they pulled it off without any injuries. Thank you.
Min-ji: I’ve never seen a gunshot wound before.
Sang-hyun: We get to see all sorts of things over here.
Ja-ae: You’ll need a few stitches.
Sang-hyun: Bite down on this. Min-ji, get some vodka. We will remember your sacrifice. OW. What was that for? This is how they treat gunshot wounds. Don’t you watch movies?
Ja-ae: In horror movies, the one who talks the most dies first.
Shi-jin: How is your wound?
Mo-yeon: I was too out of it to ask you yesterday. How’s Fatima?
Shi-jin: She’s fine. She’s being treated at Corps Command. They say she’ll fully recover.
Mo-yeon: Are you sure?
Shi-jin: What do you mean?
Mo-yeon: You lie to me a bit too often. You said the kids from Haunted Village were safe. But they were all with me where I was kept hostage.
Shi-jin: I’m sorry I lied. I didn’t want you to worry.
Mo-yeon: What else did you lie about, so I wouldn’t worry?
Shi-jin: There were no other lies.
Mo-yeon: That’s a lie.
Mo-yeon: From now on, I’m going to tell you even the smallest things like this. I’m saying that I’ll try to cope with you. So you should cope with my chattering, too. But, promise me one thing, instead. Allow me the right to be worried. I can’t let myself be anxious and worried for all the hours that you’re not with me. So when you need to go do something that might worry me, tell me. For instance, when you tell me that you need to go to the department store, I’ll understand that it will be a tough operation. At least at a moment when you are fighting a life and death struggle, don’t leave me in the dark. Now. I’ll ask you one last question. Which will it be. Me or our country? You need to be wise with your words, since I’ll only ask this once.
Shi-jin: Kang Mo-yeon. For now.
Mo-yeon: For now?
Shi-jin: Didn’t you say that you were only going to ask one question?
Mo-yeon: That was before I heard you say that. What will you do if I ask twice?
Shi-jin: I’ll still choose Kang Mo-yeon.
Mo-yeon: Really? What about our country?
Shi-jin: Our country doesn’t get jealous. It has faith in me.
Mo-yeon: What kind of relationship is this? What kind of man has his country as in-laws?
Myung-joo: I’m fine now. I’m not feverish and I’m very hungry, too. I want some chicken soup.
Dae-young: Chicken soup?
Myung-joo: And some seared barbecue, too.
Dae-young: Let’s eat them in Korea.
Myung-joo: I also want soju and beer.
Dae-young: Wow, you must be okay because you’re now talking about alcohol.
Myung-joo: Come to think of it, everything I like has the letter ‘s’ in it. Chicken soup. Seared barbecue, soju, beer [begins with 's' in Korean], and Seo Dae-young. That’s smooth, isn’t it? Wait, smooth starts with 's' too.
Dae-young: You’re a swindler.
Myung-joo: Saranghae. [I love you]
Kim Ki-bum: My goodness, Captain. You just put a soy sauce bottle cap inside that chicken.
Shi-jin: Wasn’t that a date?
Ki-bum: That’s not edible!
Shi-jin: What if we cook it?
Ki-bum: WHAT?!
Dae-young: Add these spoons too. They are very delicious when cooked.
Shi-jin: Of course. You know your food, Sergeant Major Seo.
Ki-bum: Can you both just leave the kitchen?
Dae-young: We’re putting our effort and love into this dish.
Myung-joo: Wow, I am very touched.
Mo-yeon: You look good in an apron.
Shi-jin: I am someone you’d like to marry, am I not?
Dae-young: We cooked these for you because you’ve been through a lot. I’m not sure if it’ll be any good.
Mo-yeon: It’s very delicious. It's perfectly salted.
Myung-joo: Lance Corporal Kim really is a good cook.
Mo-yeon: I know. I’m going to miss his food when I return to Korea.
Myung-joo: I used to go to this chicken soup place when I studied in school.
Mo-yeon: I know. I saw you eating there with Min Yun-gi.
Myung-joo: I didn’t go there with him. He followed me there saying he had something to tell me. You still think that I came between you two, don’t you?
Mo-yeon: That is coming between us. What did he have to say?
Myung-joo: He said you two didn’t have a thing.
Mo-yeon: Is that what he said? That we didn’t have a thing?
Myung-joo: Yeah, he said you two were just study buddies.
Mo-yeon: Just study buddies? We weren’t study buddies. We had a thing since April.
Myung-joo: He wanted to eat with me since school began.
Mo-yeon: I'm talking about the April of the year before that.
Myung-joo: I guess he was your crush then.
Mo-yeon: No, we had a thing.
Dae-young: Was Min Yun-gi the reason you two never got along?
Shi-jin: I won’t be able to sleep tonight wondering about that guy.
Mo-yeon: This is a misunderstanding
Myung-joo: It definitely is.
Shi-jin: You two went crazy over a single picture with us, while you got played around by some other guy. I’m getting angry.
Dae-young: I’d like to kill him for playing around with such beautiful women.
Shi-jin: He must be a doctor somewhere.
Dae-young: We should look for him and conduct an Forced Entry Operation.
Shi-jin: I’m not sure how I'll react when I see that guy.
Dae-young: It’s too simple to shoot him and too boring to blow him up.
Mo-yeon: I need to talk to you about something.
Shi-jin: With me? I see. You had a thing with Min Yun-gi but now you want to talk to me?
Mo-yeon: Can’t I?
Shi-jin: Did you think you could?
Mo-yeon: Fine. While we’re on the subject, I’ll go ahead and call Min Yun-gi.
Shi-jin: Try calling and see what’ll happen.
Mo-yeon: You make me want to call him even more. Listen carefully.
Shi-jin: To what?
Mo-yeon: I like this guy named Yoo Shi-jin the best among all males living on this earth. We totaled 3 cars, we fell in the water together, we fought through a disease together, and I have a gunshot wound because of him too. Even so, I like him so much. Because he was never cowardly, he was honorable at all time, and he was handsome at all times, too. Do you have any objections?
Shi-jin: I do not.
Min-ji: Can’t you two just date?
Ja-ae: I’m going back in. I haven't packed yet.
Min-ji: Omo. Did I make a mistake again?
Mo-yeon: You didn't do anything wrong. It’s because Nurse Ha is just as great a woman as Dr Song is a man. They’re the middle aged version of high school sweethearts.
Min-ji: What are you talking about?
Mo-yeon: It’s not for you babies to know.
Ja-ae: Good morning!
Mo-yeon: Good morning.
Ja-ae: Work is too far away from home. It was good to have the Medicube right in front of our lodge.
Mo-yeon: We got to look at our doves every morning, too.
Chi-hoon: Wait for me!
Min-ji: Hello!
Chi-hoon: Doesn't it feel like our first day of work?
Min-ji: Right. I feel that way, too.
Sang-hyun: I feel the same way. My gosh it’s freezing. Good morning!
Mo-yeon: We’re really back.

Dae-young: We will begin carrying out Unauthorized Black Operation. Violence with the armed gang is to be expected. Except for us, there are no backups. It will be an operation outside the uniform.

ReQuotes: Descendants of the Sun ~ Episode Eleven
Delivering another solid episode with an epic ending, Descendants of the Sun again had the Empress and I squealing to each other breathlessly.

Mo-yeon: But what if we really are infected?
Myung-joo: Are you afraid?
Mo-yeon: Aren’t you afraid?
Myung-joo: I've told you before of what I'm most afraid.
Shi-jin: Then what do we do?
Mo-yeon: I’ll try everything possible to help fight it. I’ll try my best not to lose against it. Fighting against a virus is a doctor’s battle.
Shi-jin: I’m reassured to have such a reliable comrade.
Ja-ae: This will sting a bit.
Sang-hyun: You were always great at drawing blood. You draw it out from your first go.
Ja-ae: I wasn’t like that from the beginning. It was only after practicing on a doctor friend when I was a student nurse.
Sang-hyun: You remember.
Ja-ae: Every time I draw blood, I’m always thankful.
Shi-jin: I’m very bored.
Dae-young: I’m sorry for being here at a time like this.
Shi-jin: If you're sorry, get out safely. I won’t mind you making trouble, so just get out safely.
Myung-joo: Do you remember the white dress I wore the second time we met? You asked me if I was dressed like a ghost. I keep thinking about that moment. It seems like that was a foreshadow. I will really become a ghost if I die now. I don’t want to die.
Dae-young: You are an angel. From the moment I met you, you’ve been an angel to me this whole time. I want you to know that.
Myung-joo: You are so kind to me when I’m sick. *whispers* But what’s the difference between a ghost and an angel? They’re both dead anyway.
Ki-bum: Wow, do doctors study even when they are sick?
Sang-hyun: Soldiers go to war even when they are sick, don’t they?
Shi-jin: Speaking of blood test results, what is your blood type?
Mo-yeon: Your ideal type.
Shi-jin: Try one more.
Mo-yeon: A beauty?
Shi-jin: One more.
Mo-yeon: A doll?
Shi-jin: I lose.
Mo-yeon: I just gave it a shot. You cheer me up when I’m down.
Hee-eun: You’re in isolation? why? Are you infected by the virus?
Chi-hoon: I could be, but not yet. I guess I was isolated to become a real doctor.
Hee-eun: That’s what you say after calling for the first time in a month? Do you know how worried I was? I thought you were going to divorce me.
Chi-hoon: Hey. That’s not a bad idea. You could get a fortune in alimony.
Hee-eun: WHAT?
Chi-hoon: I love you, Hee Eun! I love you so much!
Hee-eun: It really is you. You’re back.
Argus: It’s good to see familiar faces. A former comrade. My lifesaver. And my little red rose.
Mo-yeon: Do you think he’s here to get tested for the virus?
Argus: The virus? Don’t worry, doctor. We already tested negative. The U.S. Army came in advance to test me. Apparently, I can’t be sick. They love me more now than when I was a Delta Force Captain.
Shi-jin: Be quick and watch your mouth. Don’t ever say we are on the same side.
Argus: Okay. We can catch up next time. I’m just here to see my Korean friend. He was very ill. Mr. Jin. Can I see him now?
Shi-jin: Your friends aren’t welcome here. So, get lost.
Argus: Well, I can always catch up with him next time. But just one question. I heard my stuff is here. It’s very expensive, sparkly, and women adore it. Can I see that instead?
Shi-jin: This is not a lost and found. I will give you ten seconds to get out of my face.
Ja-ae: The results are back.
Sang-hyun: Really? Then I’m free to go.
Ja-ae: Not yet. I haven’t told you anything yet.
Sang-hyun: A fever, headache, cough and chest pains. My early symptoms were similar to the M3 or Ebola virus, but my skin’s still flawless, and you still look beautiful, so my eyesight’s fine. My symptoms were from another, more common virus. It’s called a cold.
Ja-ae: Yes, you fool. You had a cold. I was so worried. What are you doing? Let go of me.
Sang-hyun: You hugged me first.
Ja-ae: I’m regretting it now.
Argus: Captain Big Boss, come in. This is Argus. Over.
Shi-jin: What the hell are you doing? Bring back the medicine. Now.
Argus: I’m a business man, not a soldier. Instead of giving orders, let’s make a deal. Bring me the diamonds if you want to get your medicines back.
Ki-bum: I don’t understand why there’s no cure even with advances in medicine.
Ye-hwa: It’s because it’s a medicine that doesn’t sell. If it doesn’t sell, then it doesn’t make money.
Ki-bum: People are dying. How can they not make it because it isn’t profitable?
Ye-hwa: That’s why people like us do things that we’re told not to do. And we go to places where we’re told not to go. We’re hoping for the world to change.
Shi-jin: This is Big Boss, do you copy? Mo-yeon, listen carefully to what I say. I will make sure I find you and save you. You do know that I’m a great worker, right? I’ll be there soon. So don’t be afraid and don’t cry. Just wait for me. I’ll be there soon.
Government Minister: Didn’t you hear that you must keep it confidential and be on standby? Look here, Captain Yoo. Just because I let things pass with the VIP case before, do you think you can just ignore my words? This nation did not put a gun in your hands for this reason. This isn’t a matter of whether one person dies or not. This problem is at a national level.
Shi-jin: If the nation is indifferent to a single person’s death, that seems more problematic. I’m not sure which nation you serve, but I will serve my nation.
Argus: Big Boss. He’s smart, funny, and mysterious. But, he has a lot of secrets. He’ll disappear from time to time. He’ll be hard to contact. And then, one day... poof. He’ll never come back. You should break up with him now. This is advice, not a warning.
Mo-yeon: That kind of thing should be said with a roll of cash, and a cup of water on the side. You can’t make me do that without giving me anything.
Shi-jin: It’s been a while.
Arab: Long time, no talk. Is everything okay?
Shi-jin: Let me use your last card. I need a chopper. I have a date again.

Mo-yeon: But what if we really are infected?
Myung-joo: Are you afraid?
Mo-yeon: Aren’t you afraid?

ReQuotes: Descendants of the Sun ~ Episode Ten
The Empress and I were killed by this episode as it took us from hysterical laughter... to hyperventilating with excitement... to screaming in anguish and anticipation. By far the funniest part was when we see the bro pair who have faced life and death situations side by side with equanimity freaking out completely when a former date sends them a care package and their girlfriends open it.
Mo-yeon: Hold tight.
Argus: It hurts so much. Are you giving me any painkillers?
Mo-yeon: Oh, I forgot. Guess that makes me a bad doctor.
Fatima: Why did you save him? You should have just let him die.
Mo-yeon: You could have been a murderer if I had just let him die. I saved you from that.
Fatima: You stopped me from becoming a murderer? But you can’t stop me from being killed.
Mo-yeon: There is an army out there. So you will never be killed.
Fatima: Army. You want me to trust soldiers. Have you experienced a war? Have you seen a soldier in a war? I didn’t think so. So get out of my way, because I'm leaving.
Myung-joo: Wow, the weather is so nice. And the man sitting next to me is even nicer.
Dae-young: What’s so nice about a civilian operation with a haggard soldier?
Myung-joo: I have high standards for men.
Dae-young: Are you sure about that?
Myung-joo: Don’t you look in the mirror every morning? If you don’t, why don’t you show that face to me every morning instead? I want to see your handsome face.
Mo-yeon: I can do that myself.
Shi-jin: Love compels us to do things for others that they can do themselves.
Mo-yeon: Sergeant Major Seo, you got a package from a Shin Ji-young.
Myung-joo: I need to inspect this. ‘Be strong’ with a red heart? ‘I miss you’ with another heart? And giggling sounds?
Mo-yeon: Does Sergeant Major Seo have a sister?
Myung-joo: He’s an only child!
Mo-yeon: That’s not my fault. Wait, are you allowed to do that?
Myung-joo: Look at this photo.
Mo-yeon: What’s that? What’s Shi-jin doing there? How dare they. Lieutenant Yoon, get your gun.
Shi-jin: It’s a misunderstanding. You got it wrong.
Myung-joo: A misunderstanding? I have a photo of the four of you looking very sweet.
Mo-yeon: I got to see your brightest smile through this photo.
Shi-jin: I wasn’t smiling. It looks like I was, but I wasn’t. Right, Dae-young?
Dae-young: She’s my cousin. You know my cousin is a flight attendant.
Shi-jin: Exactly.
Mo-yeon: So, a cousin sent you a parcel, but you both come running?
Myung-joo: Because they both had fun. Which one is the cousin?
Dae-young and Shi-jin: What?
Myung-joo: Answer at the same time. Is it the girl on the left or on the right? In one, two, three.
Dae-young: Left.
Shi-jin: Right.
Shi-jin: Left.
Dae-young: Right.
Dae-young: I set Captain Yoo up with a date. It was nothing more and nothing less.
Shi-jin: Are you betraying me?
Dae-young: I am.
Mo-yeon: You must have stayed in touch with her until now for her to have this address.
Shi-jin: Is this true, Dae-young? What were you thinking? I don’t get it. I told him off for you, girls. Didn’t I do well?
Mo-yeon: Forget it. Come with me.
Dae-young: Sure, let’s go.
Myung-joo: Stop right there.
Dae-young: I thought she was talking to me. I’m used to hearing that, you see. Shi-jin, you should go.
Shi-jin: I want to stay here.
Mo-yon: Doctor Pyo!
Pyo Ji-soo: I know you got what I sent you. You should at least call to thank me.
Mo-yeon: Sorry. I was so busy, I haven’t even opened it yet.
Ji-soo: What are you busy with? Dating? I heard you kissed the captain.
Mo-yeon: How do you know that?
Ji-soo: How do you think? People told me. And you fought today, right?
Mo-yeon: How did you know that?
Ji-soo: I guessed, you brat. I guess this relationship is actually going somewhere.
Mo-yeon: Hush.
Mo-yeon: More guns? What’s with this place and guns?
Shi-jin: It’s because you ran in without a plan.
Mo-yeon: Fatima might have gotten beaten up if I didn’t step in.
Shi-jin: Yes, well done. You saved her, but you might get us shot.
Black Market Boy: Shut up and drop your weapon.
Shi-jin: Okay. I'll put it down. Right here? Will this spot work? I can’t use this gun anyway. If I do, I have to type up a million reports. Which is why... I need to borrow yours.
Mo-yeon: That was exhilarating. Is anyone following us? We did it. I still feel the excitement. Is this why you’re a soldier? I got the bad guys!
Shi-jin: Do you know you almost got me, too?
Mo-yeon: I thought you’d get out of the way. I had it all worked out.
Shi-jin: How did she study medicine with a brain like that?
Dae-young: You really don’t listen to me, do you? I clearly told you to wait in the safe zone since it’s dangerous.
Myung-joo: The safe zone is boring.
Shi-jin: Are you really going to support Fatima’s tuition?
Mo-yeon: Why?
Shi-jin: Doctors must be well-paid. Lending a hand to another means that you have more responsibility to shoulder.
Mo-yeon: I’m just dong what I can when I can do it. Even if it means problems. Do you remember who said this?
Shi-jin: You can’t take responsibility for everyone you meet here. It doesn’t change the world.
Mo-yeon: I won’t be able to change the world. But Fatima’s life will change. And that would mean the world to Fatima. Then that’s enough.
Shi-jin: I thought you said you weren’t that kind of doctor.
Mo-yeon: I thought you said I was that kind of doctor.
Shi-jin: I sense something bad. Usually in cases like this, an unknown corpse gets turned into the police. I feel like this is the beginning of a very long report.
Dae-young: I feel like I will be the one writing that long report.
Shi-jin: I need to know how much you are worth to Argus for me to see if you are worth protecting.
Young-soo: My goodness. I feel ill. Get me a doctor.
Mo-yeon: I am here. And I think I have what you are looking for. I think you are past the age to be eating rocks.
Dae-young: Yoon Myung-joo!
Myung-joo: That’s a relief. You ran here faster than when you got the package from that stewardess.
Dae-young: Are you okay?!
Myung-joo: Wow, did I just scare Seo Dae-young?
Shi-jin: What do I need to do? What can I do for you? Tell me anything you need.
Mo-yeon: I want an answer. Who wrote ‘the day I met Shi-jin’ with a heart? Was it the one on the right or the one on the left?
Shi-jin: The one on the left. She was very cute.
Mo-yeon: Oh, I see. I guess she was cute. And this man will answer anything I ask just like that.
Shi-jin: I didn’t think it was the time to joke around.
Myung-joo: It’s as if we are already dead. They’re taking everything we say as our will. You both need to lighten up. We won’t die.

ReQuotes: Descendants of the Sun ~ Episode Nine
This drama not only keeps raising the bar, but then jumping over that bar.
Mo-yeon: Are you using your Special Forces training on a matter like this? For completely personal reasons?
Shi-jin: Well, someone was publicly broadcasting her feelings.
Mo-yeon: There needs to be a doctor that broadcasts. You said so yourself. Why did you listen to someone else’s recording?
Shi-jin: I didn’t want to, but it was playing.
Mo-yeon: Just because it was playing, how could you just listen to it?
Shi-jin: You’re really cute. But why are you running away? When you were near to death, you wanted to confess your feelings. But now that you’re alive, have you changed your mind?
Mo-yeon: Confess my feelings? I wasn’t confessing my feelings.
Shi-jin: That voice was definitely yours.
Mo-yeon: It wasn’t me.
Shi-jin: This phone belongs to you.
Mo-yeon: This isn’t a phone. Goodness, what am I saying? Just keep quiet, Mo-yeon.
Shi-jin: It’s a honor to be in your will.
Mo-yeon: Look over there!
Shi-jin: I’m not fooled. Stop dumping me. Do you know how many times you’ve dumped me? I have to hear from you if it was a confession of your feelings or not. So stop running away.
Mo-yeon: All right. I’ll tell you. So let go of me.
Ha Ja-ae: They say flowers bloom even during the war. People have a fling even after an earthquake.
Song Sang-hyun: People are even confessing their feelings and kissing at this place. Others are busy living their lives like that. Shouldn’t we be diligent like them? Kissing in between working?
Ja-ae: Don’t be so cheeky.
Sang-hyun: Even after experiencing such a disaster, haven’t you realized that we need to be cheeky while we can?
Ja-ae: Shut up!
Sang-hyun: To sum up, is it right that you confessed your love to Captain Yoo?
Ja-ae: It seems Captain Yoo confessed his love to her first.
Mo-yeon: You are well educated people. Please talk about it behind my back.
Myung-joo: You are so bold. How can you think of dating the Big Boss of Team Alpha?
Mo-yeon: Lieutenant Yoon, let me ask you a question.
Myung-joo: Go ahead.
Mo-yeon: Doesn’t it bother you that your boyfriend is a soldier? Aren’t you afraid that he’ll die or get hurt? As far as I know, Sergeant Major Seo’s job is as dangerous as Captain Yoo’s.
Myung-joo: To be accurate, he penetrates into enemy territory to reconnoiter guerilla wars, collect information, rescue hostages, destroy major facilities and induce the enemy’s surrender at the risk of his life. But I’m not worried about his job. I’m just afraid to be away from him. So there’s nothing to worry about for me since we are together now. Simply put, I have nothing to fear. That’s how I feel.
Myung-joo: What are you doing here alone?
Shi-jin: I’m agonizing over something. By the way, can I ask you a question? Doesn’t it bother you that your boyfriend is a solider?
Myung-joo: Why are you all asking me that question? You should go talk to her. Mo-yeon just asked me the same question.
Shi-jin: What did you tell her?
Myung-joo: Go ask her yourself. This is not information warfare. You should talk face-to-face.
Shi-jin: You're not the one to talk.
Myung-joo: It’s always hand-to-hand combat for me. What is this rock for? Who are you going to throw it at?
Shi-jin: I was thinking about that.
Dae-young: You two look very friendly.
Myung-joo: What are you saying? Can’t I be friendly with another man?
Dae-young: Are you still upset with me?
Myung-joo: How can I not be upset? It’s not like I asked for it three times a day after every meal. How could you run away when I asked you for it? Go do roll calls for the rest of your life.
Shi-jin: I see. You asked him for that? The thing between a man and a woman? Is that it?
Myung-joo: It’s not that. I just asked him to hold my hand and give me a hug. That’s all I wanted. But he’s like this all the time. He never holds my hand. He just holds my arm or shoulder. He’s so stupid.
Myung-joo: Here. It’s him. Throw the rock at him.
Shi-jin: You are a fool.
Dae-young: Stop it. I don’t know what I’m going to do if you keep doing that.
Shi-jin: What are you going to do? Are you going to hold my shoulder, too?
Shi-jin: Why are you avoiding me? You avoided me when I confessed. And now you’re avoiding me after writing about me in your will.
Mo-yeon: It was not a will.
Shi-jin: You said your heart was fluttering the whole time.
Mo-yeon: That wasn’t me.
Shi-jin: I’m not asking you to tell me about your true feelings. Don’t feel embarrassed just because I found out that you like me. Even so, it doesn’t change that I like you more.
Shi-jin: By the way, you look pretty today.
Mo-yeon: Stop it.
Mo-yeon: What really happens if you step on a mine?
Shi-jin: There’s nothing you can do. Unlike in the movies, if you step on it, it goes off.
Shi-jin: The only way to beat a minefield is to go slowly. Try to relax and enjoy the sexy view.
Mo-yeon: This must be that time when a joke give you courage.
Shi-jin: The joke was me telling you to relax. The rest is a fact.
Mo-yeon: You’re hopeless.
Shi-jin: What about us? Will we part ways soon? Is your name on the list of people returning to Korea?
Mo-yeon: No.
Shi-jin: No?
Mo-yeon: No. I'm staying
Shi-jin: Why? It can’t be because of me.
Mo-yeon: It is. I’m staying because of you. I want to spend more time with you. I think I just confessed my feelings right now. Shall I apologize?
Ja-ae: They will feel so embarrassed later.
Sang-hyun: They must have felt so happy a while ago.
Ja-ae: I want to break them up.
Sang-hyun: I want to beat them up. What?
Ja-ae: I want to beat you up.
Young-soo: Hang on. Did you just hit me? Who are you to....
Dae-young: Do you want to be a patient? How badly hurt do you want to be? Do you want a fracture? Do you want to be a lefty? I can do that. I can put a hole right here, too. Tell me what you want. I can put you in the ICU for the rest of your life.
Dae-young: Are you targeting to shoot her head?
Shi-jin: It's a shot of love. My target is too pretty.
Dae-young: All is clear on the soldiers’ gun inspection.
Shi-jin: My gun is all right, too.
Dae-young: The gun seems fine, but the gunman doesn’t.
Shi-jin: In the afternoon, the commander of the Special Forces is scheduled to visit to encourage the corps. Don’t sigh. I, in command, won’t make a fuss just because the the commander is coming to make a visit. As always, we will do a clean job of weeding near the storage on military training grounds. And as usual, we will clean the washroom with toothpaste until it shines. We will never make a fuss. After repairing the sewer, we will clean the the storage. Be natural, just like we normally are. Understood?
Mo-yeon: Why are you out so soon? I thought you had something serious to talk about.
Shi-jin: We did. I was kicked out right after.
Mo-yeon: From the army?
Shi-jin: No. From the commander’s favor. I've been dismissed from the potential son-in-law list.
Mo-yeon: Then...
Shi-jin: Yes, the love triangle has ended.
General Yoon: How is it then? Now that you’ve been reunited, do you still like him?
Myung-joo: Yes Sir.
General Yoon: What about you, Dae-young? Do you still feel the same way?
Myung-joo: Ask me. Why do you keep bringing him into this?
Dae-young: Yes Sir.
General Yoon: I thought we shared the same thoughts. I thought you were going to back down in this fight for her. Answer me, Dae-young.
Dae-young: My answer is....
Myung-joo: I don’t care what he says. I won’t leave him.
Dae-young: I will hold on to this hand.
General Yoon: Do you think you’re capable of holding onto that hand?
Dae-young: If you transfer me, I will go as I always have. However, I won’t let go of this hand.
Myung-joo: That is unbelievable. Are you serious?
Dae-young: If you want out, tell me now. You won’t have any more chances.
Myung-joo: Are you serious? Is this for real? Did he really give us his permission?
Dae-young: Yes Ma’am. I, Seo Dae-young, have been commanded to date Yoon Myun-joo. I report to you. Salute.
Myung-joo: Why did this happen? What’s going on? What will I do? Does my father have cancer? Is he suffering from a terminal illness? I should call him. I can tell by his voice if he is telling the truth or not.
Argus: Hey doctor, do something.
Fatima: No don’t. Just kill him. Just let him die.
Argus: Doctor, what are you waiting for? Do your job.
Fatima: Please let him die. Please.
Argus: You took an oath! Don't take away my chance to kill that girl!
Mo-yeon: I don’t think I’ll let him live. I think I’ll just leave him. If I let him live, that could kill more people.
Shi-jin: Let him live. You do your job as a doctor. If we have to kill someone, I will do my job.
Mo-yeon: Are you using your Special Forces training on a matter like this? For completely personal reasons?
